The first rule of survival is to trust your gut, and Estraeah’s gut is telling her she should go home. In fact, the more she thinks about it, the more certain she becomes. Promptly, she turns around and walks toward home. Frenzied adrenaline fills her. Her pace quickens as her heart begins to beat in her chest, and before she knows it, she is in a full run. She looks back, as if she might find herself chased by a wild animal, but sees nothing.
Her distraction leads her to run into something, knocking her to the ground. There is an echoed thud and cry of pain as the person she ran into is also thrown off balance.
