Full of apprehensive excitement, Estraeah pulls her flashlight out of her bag and crosses the threshold of the cave.
She walks slowly, her senses alert for any people, animals, or other potential dangers within. As she ventures deeper and deeper into the depths, she takes the time to observe her surroundings. Unlike what she expected from a cave, there are no steep drops or speleothems to be seen. The walls and floor are smooth, and the path goes straight ahead. The only thing keeping her from being able to see all the way down is the occasional incline and decline, the steepness cutting off her line of sight.
Time loses its meaning as Estraeah walks through the tunnel, the monotony of it nearly hypnotizing. Surely it has to lead somewhere, and surely she has traveled too far now to turn back.
A voice cuts into the silence. "Estraeah?"
"Klaus?" Turning around, she shines her flashlight on her brother, his hands coming up to his face to protect his eyes from the beam of the light.
"Heyy," he greets with a slight wobble to his voice, turning off his phone flashlight and putting the device in his pocket. "Weird cave huh?" He looks around at the walls and then back at the walls.
Estraeah's eye twitches. "Um. Yes, I suppose it is."
