Klaus snickers, imagining the indignant look on Estraeah’s face when he finally catches up to her, and runs after her. Well, hopefully the sounds come from Estraeah and not some raging wild beast ready to take him as its next meal. He could say the same for the similar noises coming from off the path. He imagines they are squirrels, deer, or some other harmless animal to calm his nerves.
Klaus is clumsy in the uneven grounds of the forest, tripping over branches and getting his clothes caught in thorns. He can see the figure ahead: a person with a bag beating against their hip as they move forward at breakneck speed. Definitely Estraeah.
He curses at the flora tangling around him as if it did not want him to follow her. What could have possessed Estraeah to run so far off-path? Why is she running so quickly? He looks back and sees nothing, no sign of a bear or any other danger.
Finally, Klaus breaks free, and heads off in his sister's direction. If he doesn't catch up soon, you might lose her!
