Klaus 1-5B

Time is of the essence here. Klaus jumps down from the tree, following the clearer path. His legs burn from running, but the adrenaline makes it easy to ignore. "Estraeah wait! Don't go in there!" His voice cracks with desperation, and he can see her turn and walk out of the cave. Well, storm out is more accurate, as she approaches with her face clouded in rage.

"Klaus?! What are you doing here?"

"I'm sorry," he manages, gasping for air. Nearly doubled over, Klaus falls to his knees next to the pond and splashes water on his face. It is cool and refreshing. "I feel guilty after what happened, and I just want to make sure you're okay."

Estraeah deflates, her feet kicking at the pebbles. ". . . Fine. Regardless, why have you stopped me from entering the cave?"

Klaus needs to choose his next words carefully.
