Well, Klaus won't know unless he looks. Taking a deep breath and turning on his phone flashlight, he steps into the cave.
Klaus will be the first to admit he's not an expert on caves. In fact, the last time he was in one was a field trip in elementary school! This cave is weird. There are no steep drops or sharp rocks pointing up and down like in pictures. The walls and floor are smooth, and the path goes straight ahead. The rock sparkles in the beam of his flashlight like it's been mixed with glitter. The only thing about this place that feels right is the cold. Ugh.
He turns around a corner, the only one he's encountered thus far, and sees his sister! Knelt on the ground, wrapping a rope around herself. "Estraeah? God, what are you doing?"
Estraeah doesn't look at him, instead tightening the rope around her waist. "What does it look like I'm doing, Klaus? I plan to cross this gap in the floor!"
Klaus looks behind her. The cave looks the same as it has this entire time: flat and smooth. "Uh, what gap?"
Estraeah's eyes bug out at him, and she turns to look behind her. Her hands fall to her lap. ". . . huh." Slowly, she stands and walks over to the spot. Her foot taps on the floor. Shrugging, she takes off the rope and shoves it back in her bag before continuing down the path.
Realizing he has just been standing here and watching, Klaus remembers why he came down here.
